On April 2nd, 1873, North British Railway introduced the first regular sleeper on the Glasgow-Edinburgh-Kings Cross route via the East Coast Mainline and for a supplement of 10/- your seat rolled flat to make a bed with a blanket and pillow.
150 years on, the Caledonian Sleeper continues this legacy with our current fleet, running in a combined formation of sixteen carriages equipped with modern facilities including en-suite shower rooms, double beds and a stylish Club Car.
A unique way to travel.
To commemorate this anniversary we have produced a limited edition whisky. Handpicked at Annandale Distillery (Est.1836), our unique 8-year-old lowland malt started life in February 2015. Matured in an American oak ex-bourbon cask, our whisky offers hints of creamy sweet toffee combined with the crisp flavours of ripe Granny Smith apples and Conference pears.
