On-board tips

Luggage / Storage

Each guest can bring onto the train, free of charge, three items of personal luggage – two items (such as a suitcase or rucksack, not bigger than 30cm x 70cm x 90cm) plus one item of hand luggage.

There is space under the bed for your suitcases. Please do not put your luggage in the en-suite in Club and Caledonian Double rooms because if it falls it can block the door from opening.

If you have any larger luggage items you can let our on-board teams know and they show you where to store it in a secure area– our rooms are cosy therefore smaller luggage is recommended in the room.

Seated guests have access to lockers which are located above your seat. These are suitable for small personal items only.

Room Keys

We use a keycard system on-board our trains. To activate the lock on your room door tap the keycard against the reader outside your room twice. When it flashes red after the second tap it means the lock is active. After that you just need to tap the reader once to enter the room.

Sleep Kit & Toiletries

  • Seated guests will receive a Sleep Kit containing an eye mask and earplugs.
  • Classic guests Sleep Kit containing an eye mask, earplugs and a bar of soap.
  • Club guests will receive a Sleep Kit containing an eye mask, earplugs, and a bar of Arran Sense of Scotland Soap
  • Caledonian Double guests will receive a Sleep Kit containing an eye mask, earplugs, and a toilet bag with Arran Sense of Scotland toiletries including a bar of Arran Sense of Scotland soap.

All en-suites are equipped with a split dispenser filled with Arran Sense of Scotland shower gel and conditioning shampoo.

Towels

All Club and Caledonian Double rooms are equipped with an en-suite shower room. Towels are provided in a bag in your en-suite.

Conserving water

At Caledonian Sleeper we pride ourselves on being a sustainable mode of transport, we encourage you to be eco-conscious too and conserve water when using your in room washbasin and en-suite shower in our Club and Caledonian Double rooms.

Sockets

The in-room sockets are suitable for charging small devices such as mobile phones.

Seated guests have a USB charging port and plug socket available.

Please do not use the control panel for any other devices i.e. hairdryers and straighteners.

Wi-fi

Though we have Wi-fi available on our service, the geography of our route means that sometimes we can’t guarantee Wi-fi will be available for your whole journey. If you want to watch or listen to something while you travel we advise downloading before you travel.

The highland landscape is the best entertainment we can offer, so why not put your phone down and take in the rugged landscape?

Good to know

You will be travelling on a railway line so there will be the occasional bump. The train will stop and start a few times during the evening.

During the evening the formation of our train will change to allow us to serve all destinations, this means when you wake up the Club car might be in a different place to where you left it the night before! This is normal and happens every service, our Hosts will be able to answer any questions.

Guests travelling on the seated coach to and from Fort William will be required to swap coaches at Edinburgh. Our on-board crew will be on hand to answer any questions. If you are travelling on this route with a bicycle or additional luggage you will be required to move your items during this formation change.

Something not quite right in your room or seat

If there is something not quite right in your room then please let our on-board team know so we can rectify the issue for you. You can contact your host by using the call button.
