Nearby, Aonach Mòr is one of the best ski-slopes in Europe, with gondolas providing easy access to the top, while in the summer a custom designed track makes it one of the best downhill mountain bike challenges in the world. Which is just as well, as every year Fort William is host of the Mountain Bike World Cup, with competitors taking on the wilds of the surroundings as well as the town itself in the famously arduous race.
Watersports enthusiasts flock to Fort William every year too, not just for the sailing but for the white water and canoeing in the Atlantic as well as the surrounding rivers.
Home to many a lively ceilidh too – where the celebrated local malt is the toast of the guests – it is an idyllic escape from the rat race.

Corpach Shipwreck
A poignant reminder of maritime history, located along the shores of Loch Linnhe. The wreck, believed to be the remains of the MV Dayspring, adds a touch of mystery and intrigue to the scenic landscape.
Glenfinnan Viaduct
Completed in 1901 the Glenfinnan Viaduct is now recognisable all across the world, made famous by the Harry Potter films.
