Caledonian Sleeper Introduces Oban Connection Published: Thursday, 29 June 2017 09:08

Caledonian Sleeper has introduced a new bus connection service from Crianlarich in Central Scotland to the town of Oban, helping make journeys from London to Scotland’s West Coast more efficient.

Partnering with West Coast Motors and funded by Transport Scotland, the overnight rail service is running a bus link for a 14-week trial period between Crianlarich railway station and the popular resort town. This will allow guests to take a direct route to Oban without having to wait at Crianlarich for connecting rail services.

Speaking of the transfer service, Ryan Flaherty, Serco’s Guest Experience Director at Caledonian Sleeper, said: “Oban is a popular destination for tourists and is known for being the gateway to the isles, with ferry services to many islands off the West Coast of Scotland including the stunning Inner and Outer Hebrides.

“The direct bus service between Crianlarich railway station and Oban will allow passengers to make the most of the area, saving time compared to waiting for connecting rail services.”

Colin Craig, Managing Director at West Coast Motors, added: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Caledonian Sleeper and Transport Scotland on this exciting multi-model transport pilot. We are confident this refreshing combination of rail and coach will make travelling to the West Coast seamless, while hopefully encouraging more visitors to Oban and further afield.”

The Oban bus service will operate Monday to Saturday mornings from Crianlarich railway station to Oban reflecting the Caledonian Sleeper timetable. No booking is required for the return bus service from Oban station that will run each evening at 19:40 on Sundays and at 20:30 Monday to Friday.

Guests looking to use the bus service should confirm so when boarding Caledonian Sleeper in London Euston.

Stops between Crianlarich and Oban are available by request on the morning service only. Please request this when boarding.
