Taking your pet (or pets!) with you

If you’re travelling in a Caledonian Sleeper room, you’re welcome to bring your pet (or pets)with you. We don’t allow pets to travel in the seated accommodation part of our trains, as this might not be acceptable to other guests.

We don’t charge for your pet travelling with you but, because we have to thoroughly clean the room your pet has travelled in, we charge a cleaning fee. Currently this is £30 per room, for any journey and for either one or two pets.

You may bring up to two pets per room. Dogs or cats are our most typical pets, but we will consider carrying other pets – please contact the Guest Service Centre for advice.

If you are travelling in a Standard Class shared occupancy room, then the other person in that compartment must be a member of your party in order for you to bring a pet with you.

We do ask that pets are not allowed to sleep on the beds; please ensure they stay on the floor of your room. Please also do not bring your pet into the Lounge Car, or walk your pet along other carriages.

Booking and refunding rules:

  • Buy up to 12 months before travel
  • Available up until just before train departure
  • Your Pet Supplement ticket is only valid for the specified date
  • Fully refundable before travel

Included in your Pet Supplement:

  • Travel with you in your compartment for up to two pets
  • Thorough cleaning of the compartment after you travel so that other guests who may be allergic to pets are not affected

How to get your Pet Supplement ticket:

  • Collect from a ticket vending machine at over 1,000 stations
  • First class post (UK only)
  • Royal Mail Special Delivery (UK only)
