Room Supplements

If you have already purchased a ticket which is valid for travel with any operator and wish to travel in a room on the Caledonian Sleeper, you can do so by paying a supplement.

The supplement must be for the same class of travel for the ticket you hold.

You may only purchase Room Supplements if you hold:

  • Open/Off-Peak/Super Off-Peak tickets for the entire journey being made
  • All Line Rover tickets valid for the date of arrival in destination
  • BritRail passes valid for the date of arrival in destination. Wales/England and England only BritRail passes are only valid between Carlisle and London
  • InterRail Passes valid in Great Britain and for travel on the date of arrival at your destination
If you hold a Standard Class travel ticket, you may purchase a Classic Solo or Classic Twin Room Supplement.
If you hold a First Class travel ticket, you may purchase a Club Solo or Club Twin, or Classic Solo or Classic Twin Room Supplement. 

You may not purchase Room Supplements if you hold:

  • Caledonian Sleeper dedicated seated fares
  • Dedicated fares of other operators
  • Open/Off Peak/Super Off-Peak tickets which only cover part of your journey

If you wish to upgrade your class of travel from Standard to First, you will need to pay the difference between the Standard and First Class fare in addition to the Room Supplement. Upgrades can only be sold at station booking offices.

Booking and refunds

  • Buy up to 12 months before travel
  • Available to purchase until three hours before the train departs from the initial station
  • You must possess a valid travel ticket which is marked as “Route: Any Permitted” (NOT “Route: Virgin Trains only” or any other restriction)
  • Your ticket must be for the same class of accommodation as your Room Supplement
  • You must travel on the date on your Room Supplement
  • Your Room Supplement is not a travel ticket
  • Refund up to midday two days before you are due to arrive at your destination (£10 fee applies)
