Caledonian Sleeper Brings Music to Inverness Children’s Ears Published: Friday, 29 July 2016 08:28

Children attending a popular Highland music festival are set to enjoy events set to their own beat thanks to a new partnership with Caledonian Sleeper.

The Inverness-based overnight train service is supporting the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival’s Tir nA nOg children’s area. Offering some of the event’s youngest visitors a chance to trial circus workshops, music, games and theatre sessions, the area will act as a fantasy playground for attending children keen to learn the skills of some of their favourite fictional characters.

The collaboration comes as Caledonian Sleeper seeks to enhance its links with the best of Scotland’s cultural festivals and attractions by showing what the country has to offer to audiences across the UK.

To celebrate the partnership, Caledonian Sleeper will be giving festival-going families a chance to experience the overnight rail journey for themselves. Those attending will have an opportunity to win a family trip to London, with youngsters being given a chance to mingle with Muggles or take a trip to Platform 9¾. Ticketholders will be contacted about the competition after the event closes.

Peter Strachan, Caledonian Sleeper’s Managing Director, said: “As a family-friendly service which strives to deliver the best experience for our younger guests, we are very pleased to partner with an event that shares our focus on creating the best family environments.

“Our range of on board services including interconnecting berths and lounge car menus offering children under the age of 12 free meals, provide the perfect start to a family adventure in Scotland or London.

“Belladrum is one of the many great events that families can visit in The Highlands and with free entry for younger children and a large family camping area, I’m sure it will be enjoyed by all.”

Taking place over three days from Thursday 4 August, Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival showcases a range of musical and theatrical talent from across the country and further afield.

Joe Gibbs, founder of the Festival added: “We have always encouraged families to enjoy Belladrum and this year is no different. We have a host of new activities for 2016 including a zipline and jazz and blues bar, but it is our family focus which makes us popular year after year.

“Our new and improved children’s area adds a touch of magic courtesy of Caledonian Sleeper, and we’re sure our young guests will enjoy the new-look Tir nA nOg.”

Families joining the festivities at the children’s area will have an opportunity to win a family trip to London. Travelling standard class, young festival fans can fall asleep on board and wake up refreshed and ready to experience the magic of the Big Smoke. Further details can be found at
