Caledonian Sleeper gives guests In-cider experience Published: Friday, 27 November 2015 10:12

East Lothian cider producer, Thistly Cross Cider, is set to bring some fizz aboard the Caledonian Sleeper with an exclusive tasting.

Thistly Cross will be treating guests on Sunday’s sleeper service from London Euston to Glasgow Central with a tutored tasting of its craft cider range.  The tasting – part of a calendar of on board events – is the last of a series of events taking place throughout Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink.

Speaking of the on board event, Peter Stuart, head cidermaker, said: “This is a great event to be involved with. Making delicious cider is our passion and from our roots at local farmers’ markets to our success with overseas customers, we remain committed to using the best local ingredients and a natural process to produce tantalising drinks.”

“We look forward to welcoming guests on board as they sample our range of ciders and learn about the art and science of craft cider making.”

Guests’ taste buds will make the journey from the thirst quenching Traditional 4.4% cider, to the citrusy floral notes of Real Elderflower, enjoying winter favourites such as the Whisky Cask matured cider and Real Ginger along the way.

All of this will be enjoyed from the comfort of the Lounge Car, where guests can sit back and learn about the process of making Thistly Cross Cider – from branch to bottle.

Established in 2008, Thistly Cross has grown from its origins at local farmers markets to securing listings across the UK, winning a clutch of awards along the way.

Caledonian Sleeper’s Ryan Flaherty, said: “Thistly Cross is at the forefront of the Scottish cider revival and, naturally, we wanted to invite guests to enjoy a tipple.

“The Caledonian Sleeper works with a wealth of Scottish suppliers in the food and drink sector and it is only right to raise a glass to the fantastic produce on our doorstep as guests unwind before enjoying the overnight journey.”
