Tales tricks and treats in store for Caledonian Sleeper guests Published: Tuesday, 27 October 2015 10:07

Terrifying tales will be served to Caledonian Sleeper guests this Thursday as they experience a haunted Highland Halloween.

Willie Cameron

Spooky storyteller Willie Cameron will be on board to frighten guests with his nightmarish tales of the elusive Loch Ness Monster.

Known as ‘Mr Loch Ness’, Willie will be hosting a showcase for guests travelling from London to Inverness on Thursday 29 October, including tales from the murky loch and themed treats from Drumnadrochit bakery supplier Cobbs Group who recently won the Food & Drink Business Growth Award at this year’s Highlands and Islands Food and Drink Awards.

A mini Loch Ness Monster will be presented to guests at the beginning of their journey, along with a discounted voucher for Loch Ness by Jacobite, an award-winning cruise and tour company which allows visitors to discover the myths of Loch Ness for themselves.

Speaking of the on board event, Willie Cameron said: “I can’t wait to share the mystery of Loch Ness with guests of the Caledonian Sleeper. The area has so much intriguing history, including castles, battles, ghosts and of course arguably the most famous monster in the world. There’s so much to tell people about the legend that lurks beneath the waters of Loch Ness.”

The partnership with Willie Cameron, Cobbs Group and Loch Ness by Jacobite is part of a calendar of on board events from the Caledonian Sleeper. To date the service has hosted a number of experiences with Scottish suppliers including a whisky tasting with Balblair and Old Pulteney distilleries and celebrations to launch the Edinburgh International Fashion Festival and Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Ryan Flaherty, Serco’s Guest Experience Director at the Caledonian Sleeper, said: “As an overnight service it’s only right we celebrate Halloween with spooky tales during the witching hour from one of Scotland’s best storytellers.

“This event will be a fantastic opportunity for guests to enjoy Willie’s hair-raising tales of what has become a global icon whilst sampling some great local produce.”
