Aberdeen

The Silver City with the Golden Sands, also known as the Granite City, Aberdeen has established itself as a shopping, dining and entertainment destination.

Aberdeen

Aberdeen may be best known for its oil industry and granite, but there is far more to the Silver City with the Golden Sands.

Located in the north east of Scotland, it is the go-to spot in the region for art, theatre, music and festivals. From the Aberdeen International Youth Festival and the Aberdeen Jazz Festival there’s plenty to see and hear, while TechFest is north-east Scotland’s celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Sports enthusiasts can watch Aberdeen FC play at Pittodrie Stadium while there are plenty of golf and fishing opportunities in the area.

If you’d rather spend your days in the shops than in the stands, then the city’s shopping centres will prove attractive. Union Square, the Bon Accord, St Nicholas and Trinity shopping centres offer plenty of variety, while Marischal Square also has plenty to offer.

As a base to explore Scotland further, Aberdeen is an ideal hub. The nearby Cairngorm mountain range offers plenty of sporting, walking and sightseeing activities.

Castle tours also operate from the centre of the city, giving you a chance to see the 17 different fortifications nearby, including Dunnottar and Tulquhon castles.

Northlink Ferries sail from the city’s famous port out to the islands of Shetland and Orkney, whose geography, culture and people will woo you enough to ensure you’ll want a return visit.
