Planning ahead during COVID-19

We are looking forward to having you on board with us at Caledonian Sleeper.
Please read the following COVID-19 changes to our service prior to your journey with us.

If you or anyone in your household are suffering from cold or flu like symptoms, stay at home and do not travel with Caledonian Sleeper. If you cannot travel, please contact our Guest Service Centre to apply for a refund before noon on the day of travel. 

Catering Facilities

We are afraid that during this difficult time, our Club Car is closed, and we are only able to provide a very limited breakfast service. We know… we are sad that we can’t cook you up some haggis, neeps and tatties either. We can’t wait to be able to offer it to you again soon.

We are advising all of our guests to bring your own food and beverages which can be enjoyed in your room. Guests should also be aware that some catering outlets at departure stations may be closed, therefore we suggest planning your midnight feast ahead!

Breakfast will be available for all of our Club guests, inclusive of a bacon roll, muffin and fruit juice. A breakfast snack pack will also be provided for our Classic guests. Our hosts will call your room prior to arrival at your destination to organise your breakfast delivery placement outside of your door.

Please advise our onboard teams upon check in if you have any specific allergies or dietary requirements. We would like to give you our warmest of apologies if our limited product availability is unsuitable.

Face Coverings and Hand Hygiene

In line with the UK Government legislation, all of our guests must wear a face covering when at stations and on board our service, with the exception of children under 11 in England, children under 5 in Scotland, and those guests who fall into an exemption category. Due to our unique service, you do not need to wear your face covering in the comfort of your room.

We have handwashing facilities in all rooms and toilets on board and we are encouraging all of our guests to observe good hand hygiene throughout their journey and stay. As we are able to provide hand washing facilities, we do not provide hand sanitiser, but please feel free to carry your own!

Travelling to the Station

We are advising all of our guests to check your travel arrangements to and from departure and destination stations as many transport operators have made alterations to their services during these difficult times. Please allow sufficient time on arrival at your destination for any potential queuing systems in operation to control foot flows.

Stations

All stations served by Caledonian Sleeper are operated by our partner organisations. We are fully engaged with the operators to understand measures in place to comply with the latest guidance and restrictions to keep us and you right. These measures include floor markings and other signage to highlight social and physical distancing, queueing systems and additional marshalling staff. We appreciate your participation and patience in following the measures in place to keep you and others safe.

All of our Scottish stations are operated by ScotRail www.scotrail.co.uk , with the exception of Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley, which alongside London Euston are operated by Network Rail https://www.networkrail.co.uk/communities/passengers/our-stations/

Preston, Carlisle and Crewe are operated by Avanti West Coast www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk

Station Lounges

We are delighted to share that the Caledonian Sleeper Guest Lounges in Inverness and Perth are open to Caledonian Double and Club guests 2 hours prior to train departure and upon arrival for you to enjoy an extra moment of the Caledonian Sleeper experience, finish off any work or to enjoy a refreshment before or after your journey and stay.

We are afraid that all of the other Caledonian Sleeper Guest Lounges remain closed at this time, we really hope to be back soon.

The Avanti First Class Lounge at Euston is available to use by our Caledonian Double and Club guests 1 hour before the scheduled departure time. We are sad to say that unfortunately, due to restrictions, the lounge is not available to guests arriving into the station.

The LNER First Class Lounge at Edinburgh is available to use by our Caledonian Double and Club guests from 2000. Unfortunately, there are no refreshment facilities available at this lounge, however, warmth and comfort still welcome you here.

Showering facilities are currently unavailable at any of the listed lounges at this time. If you are using the lounges, we are asking guests to kindly where a face covering and maintain physical distancing to help keep us and you safe. Due to physical distancing measures, we have had to reduce the number of guests permitted in the lounges at any one time. We are really sorry about this, but please understand that this is to maximise comfort and safety for us all.

Train Boarding

When boarding our service, we are asking all guests to participate in physical distancing guidelines when approaching our team members and other guests. Once boarding has commenced, we will aim to allow guests to come on board the train as quickly and safely as possible. To help us with this, please make your way to the platform and follow the guidance provided by our team. Please have your ticket available, either printed or on your smart device and get ready to show this to our team when requested. We are kindly asking that you do not board the train until you are advised to do so.

On Train Payments

If you wish to pay for an upgrade while on board our service, we are happy to assist you with this! At this time, we are only able to accept payments by credit or debit cards.
