From 15 – 19 September London Fashion Week takes over the capital, seeing some of the industry’s most iconic stars strut the city’s streets and enjoy the glitz and glamour of designer catwalks.

Organised by the British Fashion Council, the bi-annual event offers top international talent a chance to present their collections to buyers, photographers and leading press such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

Much of the star-studded event may be off-limits to non-fashion glitterati however there are plenty of other shows, exhibitions and pop-ups which will quench catwalk addicted desires.

Helping Scottish style enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the bustle of London Fashion Week, Caledonian Sleeper has created a list of the city’s most on-trend and accessible events which can be enjoyed without a VIP pass.

London Fashion Week Festival

Held from 21 - 24 September, London Fashion Week Festival is the only event which gives unparalleled access to the industry.

Held in the same venue as London Fashion Week, The Store Studios, the festival has been revamped this year to offer a series of catwalk shows, designer shopping and designer talks with the best of British and international fashion leaders.

Highlights include catwalks showcasing up-and-coming trends, fashion career discussions, make-up masterclasses with Maybelline New York, talks with Alice Temperley and the chance to purchase items from brands including Edge of Ember, French Sole and Taylor Morris.

Prêt-à-Portea Afternoon Tea

Inspired by the themes and colours of the fashion world, the Berkley’s legendary designer afternoon team offers the perfect pit stop for tired feet.

Served in the luxurious setting of the Collins Room, the afternoon tea serves a delicious menu of mouth-watering delicacies with a fashionable twist. The current collection boasts Stella McCartney’s British chocolate and vanilla Battenberg cake inspired by the designer’s chequerboard summer pumps and Miu Miu’s retro bikini lime biscuit.

Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion

Hosted by the V&A, the Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion exhibition examines the work and legacy of influential Spanish designer Cristóbal Balenciaga.

Open until February 2018 with an entry cost of £12, visitors can discover how Balenciaga’s exquisite craftsmanship and innovative designs have shaped modern fashion by browsing over 100 pieces crafted by ‘the master of couture’.

A series of events are also scheduled to support the exhibition, and perfectly timed with London Fashion Week, including a special showcase of work by Central Saint Martin jewellery design students inspired by Balenciaga on 22 September and a behind the scenes tour with researcher Stephanie Wood the same day.
