Cross the Border to Make the Most of Summer in Scotland

Blair Castle International Horse Trials, 24 – 27 August

Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair is Scotland’s leading equestrian event, attracting over 40,000 visitors across four days each year.  Attendees can watch Olympic medallists compete alongside amateurs in dressage, show jumping and cross country whilst enjoying local produce such as handmade chocolates, organic meat and cheeses.

The Brudar Fair which runs alongside the equestrian activities on the Saturday and Sunday features displays of both traditional and modern country pursuits, as well as 200 shopping stands selling bespoke jewellery, fine art and country clothing.  The event can be reached from Blair Atholl railway station which is serviced by Caledonian Sleeper. 

Cairnie Fruit Farm, Fife

Located a short distance from Leuchars railway station, Cairnie Fruit Farm is an award-winning farm offering fruit picking, a maze, children’s activities, farm shop and café.

Open seven days a week from July until October, the farm provides visitors with a picturesque setting to pick a range of fruit including strawberries, raspberries, brambles and blackcurrants. The onsite Cairnie Tearoom also boasts some of the best home baking in the area as well as smoothies and ice cream made from freshly picked fruit. 

Dundee Flower and Food Festival, 1 – 3 September

Taking place in Camperdown Country Park, the Dundee Flower and Food Festival offers the best in food, horticultural and live entertainment.

A weekend packed with cookery demonstrations, children’s activities and crafts, this year’s programme is set to wow visitors with appearances from Michelin Starred chefs and leading gardeners, as well as offering the opportunity to purchase a wide selection of plants and flowers.

The Festival can be reached from Dundee railway station with tickets starting from £9.00.
